    Jason "JR" Reed (also known by the name of his signature character, Lee), is an American actor and musician, originally from Corvallis, Oregon. He grew up in Las Vegas, NV where he graduated from Bonanza High School. He is best known for his association with the comedy rock band Tenacious D.

    Acting career

    Reed''s first film was The Shot in 1996. His first TV series appearance was Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the episode ''Choices'' in 1999. He later appeared in the films The Anniversary Party and Camera Obscura in 2000 and 2001. He appeared in the Dead Last episode ''Laughlin It Up'' in 2001. In 2002 he appeared in commercials for the 2002 MTV Movie Awards alongside Jack Black. He played a role in the short The Pick Up in 2003. In 2005, he appeared in episodes of Living with Fran and Alias as well as appearing in the internet viral video short ''Captain Lou Albano''s Birthday Slam''. He also played ''Randy'' in the 2007 short What Ever Happened to Gavin Buckmaster?. In 2008, He featured in the summer blockbuster, Kung Fu Panda alongside Kyle Gass as well as playing ''Coop'' in the short, The 7th Claus. In 2009 he co-starred in the film Other People''s Parties, as well as appearing in the short, Addicted to Facebook. In 2010, Reed featured in the film Removal and also featured in the short film Errand boy. In 2013, he played roles in the Community TV series and played main roles in the Campus Security Show.

    He has featured in two viral music videos. He is notably featured in Muscle Milk''s Thanksgiving viral music video "Sexy Pilgrim". His second role was in BroBible''s Keep It Hairy?.

    He has also starred in various commercials, examples include McDonald''s Filet-o-Fish, Planter''s Nuts, TiVo, Microsoft, Time Warner Cable, Carl''s Jr/Hardees, Taco Bell, Silk Soy Milk, Tanqueray and Volkswagen.

    Tenacious D

    Reed first worked at Tenacious D shows as a roadie and a stage-hand after meeting Jack Black and Kyle Gass at The Actors'' Gang in Los Angeles. His first appearances on stage included him as a roadie singing ''Special Things'' - a song about his friendship with the band. He later adopted the role of Spider-Man - which saw him running around the stage dressed in a Spiderman costume spraying the audience with ''Spidey-Spray'' whilst Black and Gass played the Spiderman theme tune. He was dubbed as ''Peter Parker'' on stage because of his roles of Spiderman. In 2000, in Tenacious D (television series) - in episode five he played the role of ''Lee'' - where Reed was the number one fan of the band. In the episode he performed ''Special Things'' and Black sang a new song called ''Lee'' - praising him. After the television show came out, he began to play the role of ''Lee'' on stage. In 2001, on the band''s debut album, the song ''Lee'' was recorded in studio and added to it. For the album Reed also featured in the Tribute music video as a security guard. On the band''s website - Reed was the head editor and announced upcoming shows and other news. He played his roles on the 2001-2002 album tour, he also played these roles in 2003 and 2004 and 2005. It should be noted that in 2005, Reed performed at San Diego Comic Con. In 2006, he appeared at a benefit at Fonda Theatre at the start of the year. He next featured on Tenacious D''s motion picture Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny playing the character ''Lee'' once again. He attended the premiere of the film as well as appearing in lots of behind the scenes for the movie. He also featured in the Tenacious D short Time Fixers as the Time Goblin. For the 2006-2007 world tour, Reed dressed as ''Satan'' singing for the song Beelzeboss (The Final Showdown). He dressed up as ''The Metal'' and also dressed up as a mushroom and a police officer. On the tour he played at Madison Square Garden, Saturday Night Live, Spike Video Game Awards, Jonathan Ross and on Jimmy Kimmel live. He also appeared at Marlay Park and Reading and Leeds festivals in 2008 as well as appearing at Outside Lands 2009 and at Bonnaroo and Blizzcon 2010.

    Reed also performed in the band Trainwreck as lead vocals. Whilst under the stage name ''Daryl Lee Donald'', he was on stage with fellow Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass.
