The city actually seems to have been founded during the period between Dariush 1st and Dariush 2nd reign (522 – 404 BC). During the Parthian Empire, the city had expanded used as a military garrison. Darabgerd reached its peak during the Sassanid era.During the end of the Parthian Empire, Ardeshir Babakan started his conquest of Persia and founded the Sassanid Empire in 226 AD.
