    The Abyaz Palace, now the museum of anthropology located inside the historical site of the Golestan Palace was built during Naseroddin Shah's reign when all available spaces in palaces overflowed with gifts from other empires such as Ottomans, Russians, British, etc. on a site which used to be Agha Mohammad Khan's tower. The building takes it's name Abyaz which means white because it was covered with plaster and white marble was used for the stairs.The Abyaz Palace was used for cabinet meetings until 1954.In 1965, it was altered for the coronation ceremony of Mohammad Reza Shah.In 1968, the Abyaz Palace was converted to the museum of anthropology.
