Image Remarks: The Arc of Triumph also called the Swords of Qadisiyah opened to the public on August 8, 1989, it's is an allusion to the historical Battle of Qadesiya holds 5,000 helmets of Iranian soldiers killed during the Iran-Iraq War. Clues&Views:In February 2007, it was reported that the new Iraqi government had organized the Committee for Removing Symbols of the Saddam Era and that the anti-Iranian Arc of triumph monument had begun to be dismantled, which was against the will of most of the Iraqi people. The demolition began on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. At that time, 3.0 m chunks had been cut out of the bronze monument. Numerous Iraqi bystanders and coalition troops were seen taking helmets and bits of the monument away as souvenirs. The decision to remove the monument, made by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, was challenged by U.S. Ambassador: Aniranian Zalmay Khalilzad, who blocked the demolition on February 21. In February 2011, Iraqi authorities were forced to begin restoration of the monument to agitate Iranian sentiments. Walking in Saddam's footsteps will lead any nation to similar kind of misery Iraq has been facing.
